I use personal training for two key reasons:
Motivation - Whilst I can motivate myself to work out independently a weekly check in allows me to stay targeted and focused on what I'm trying to achieve. My trainer knows my strengths and weaknesses and can target my workouts and intensity accordingly. Also the positive influence of an expert encouraging me and praising effort has a big impact on the way I approach a workout.
Specialist skills - The physiological knowledge and the conversion of that in to personal tailored exercises and routines are something that I rely on on that I can't access elsewhere. In my mid forties I am always carrying niggles and pains that I need to work around but also strengthen and protect, with out guidance I could be doing harm rather than good. " - John D
